The company is weighing two options: redeploying satellites from its extensive fleet and reallocating a subsequent ViaSat-3 class satellite to provide additional bandwidth to the Americas. ViaSat-3 Americas is an ultra-high-capacity Ka band satellite that will allow the satellite communications provider to reach more homes, businesses and planes, Runway Girl Network reported.

Air Force Paints Liberation Stripes on C-130Js to Commemorate 80th D-Day Anniversary

U.S. Air Force airmen from the 86th Maintenance Squadron have painted liberation stripes and added decals to six C-130J Super Hercules aircraft stationed at Ramstein Air Base to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy, France. The United States and its allies used the stripes and designations on June 6, 1944, for coordination between the ground and the air parties. According to Tech. Sgt. Garrett Magnie, maintenance officer for the 86th Maintenance Squadron, the 37th Troop Carrier Squadron, now known as the 37th Airlift Squadron, was part of the Normandy liberation, AF .mil reported.

Arizona Teenagers Jailed for Smuggling Rifles to Mexico

Two teenagers from Arizona were jailed for attempting to ship assault rifles to Mexico without a valid license or any export authority. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Arizona, Manuel De Jesus Guzman and Joshua Francisco Mendez carried two Romarms WASR-10 rifles, one Century Arms VSKA rifle, and one Century Arms BFT rifle on their body as they entered the DeConcini Port of Entry in Nogales, Arizona, on their way to Mexico. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers located the rifles. Guzman was sentenced to one year and six months in prison while Mendez was sentenced to a year in prison, the U.S. Department of Justice said Monday.

Northrop Grumman has initiated the next phase of pre-launch preparations for the Arctic Satellite Broadband Mission after delivering the ABSM's Control and Planning Segment ground system and the Enhanced Polar System Recapitalization payloads to the U.S. Space Force. ABSM is a two-satellite constellation that will deliver protected satellite communications to the Northern Polar region. Cyberattacks targeting government agencies and public services surged by 40 percent during a three-month period that ended in May 2023, according to the Global Threat Intelligence Report published by BlackBerry. The report said that the cyberthreats mostly came from Russia and North Korea, adding that threat actors continue to improve their techniques to defeat targets' cyber defenses. BlackBerry also noted that ransomware operators are increasingly aiming their attacks on the health care and financial services industries as data and critical services present a lucrative target for the threat actors, MeriTalk reported.
